Weekend Hormone Horoscope: October 13 & 14, 2012

My Hormonology

Which week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your weekend has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: With rising estrogen and testosterone lifting your energy and desire to get stuff done, you may find yourself getting sucked into one project after another after another this weekend without really finishing any of them, for instance, you may start out weeding the garden, then spot an empty planter you’d been meaning to fill, so you head to the hardware store that has a great garden center where you then spot a lamp shade in the housewares department that would look great in your living room so you get it, then come home and realize it doesn’t match your pillows so you head out to the home furnishing store.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: You’re more easily excited by great weather, a killer sale, a fun event or surprise visit by friends thanks to high estrogen and testosterone, which tell your brain to churn out more chemicals that boost happiness in response to positive things!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: If you’re going on a big date or attending an important social event this weekend, try to pump up your personality a little more. Progesterone is rising, and this sedating hormone can make you a bit of a bore by making you less inclined to chat or even show emotion on your face. So, make a point to remember to smile, pipe up more in conversation and put a little more oomph into whatever you do.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: If you suffer down moods or crankiness as a result of plunging estrogen, it’s not all bad. Research shows that folks in a funk spot important details more quickly and easily than those in a great mood because you’re more tuned in to what’s going on around you than your head-in-the-clouds compatriots. This means you’ll be better at finding parking spots and zeroing in on great deals in a store and will even be safer when driving!
