Weekend Hormone Horoscope: November 3 & 4, 2012

My Hormonology

Which week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your weekend has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: Jokes, sit-coms and watching someone trip over their own feet are funnier to you this weekend and all the way through the end of Week 2 as rising estrogen amps up brain chemicals that fire up your sense of humor!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: It’s roll up your sleeves time. High estrogen and testosterone are pumping up your resolve and inner strength, making you feel like you can (and will) accomplish just about anything you set your mind to. This can-do spirit may spill over to other people as well, making you want to push friends, family and co-workers to do more. Unfortunately, they may not share your over-achieving frame of mind. And, if that’s the case, you may be happier refocusing all that cheerleading back on yourself and your own goals rather than waste it on those undeserving slackers!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: This may turn out to be a pretty food-centric weekend. Why? Rising progesterone amps up your hunger and desire for ooey, gooey, salty and/or sweet goodies. This hormone also has you feeling a tad more self-reflective, so it may stir up thoughts, ideas or issues that make you turn to your favorite foods for comfort or trigger memories of times you’ve had certain foods before, for instance, during holidays or the last time you visited a good friend.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: Going someplace crowded, noisy, stuffy or smelly? Try stashing something in your purse or travel mug that’s sure to soothe you. Plunging estrogen is making you more sensitive to annoyances, so having your favorite chai latte, comic book, mini massager or other indulgence will make the experience easier.
