My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your weekend has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
This weekend’s hormonescope: If you’ve got the time, try to start a new project, be it redecorating a room, learning how to make a wedding cake or taking the first steps to starting a new business. Rising estrogen and testosterone are giving you more physical and mental oomph and making it easier to stay motivated through a task. They’re also pumping up feel-good brain chemicals, so when you see the progress you’ve made, you’ll feel even more amazed with what you can accomplish!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
This weekend’s hormonescope: Treat yourself to truly special food or beverages this weekend, something with a complex or bold taste or something you only make or order once in awhile. High estrogen during Week 2 makes your taste buds more sensitive to flavor, so you’ll enjoy the meal, treat or drink far more now than during any other week of your cycle!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
This weekend’s hormonescope: If you’ve been looking to shed weight, take time to exercise this weekend, for instance, by going for a brisk walk, hopping on a bike or hitting the gym. Progesterone helps your body burn up to 30% more fat during this week and most of next week when you’re active, making it easier to reach your weight-loss goal.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
This weekend’s hormonescope: Sudden twists and turns in your schedule can be irritating as plunging estrogen makes it harder for you to bounce back easily from unexpected changes. This means you should take extra precautions to ensure that your weekend plans run smoothly, for instance, by buying movie tickets ahead of time and showing up early for the best seats, making a reservation at a restaurat instead of hoping they have a table open when you arrive, and avoiding inviting any drama queens and other unpredictable folks who have a way of spoiling every social event.
