Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: Period aches and pain may sideline you for the first couple of days of Week 1. However, once you’re past that, rising estrogen and testosterone are going to be pushing you out of the menstrual hut and egging you on to go shopping, run errands, catch up with friends and basically do anything else that gets you on the move!

Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: You may end up making a quick decision without thinking an issue through thoroughly. That’s because high testosterone is making you impulsive and high estrogen is making you optimistic about the outcome. Sometimes, making a decision on the fly can end up being a good thing (for instance, trying out a new restaurant or getting bangs). However, if you’re considering something big, like buying a car or condo, you’ll probably be happiest when running the numbers and getting opinions from family and friends before taking the plunge.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: Unlike Week 2 gals, you may put off making a decision because you’re so busy weighing the pros and cons. The problem is lower levels of estrogen and testosterone, which sap your confidence, making you worry that the outcome might not be as good as you hope. Sometimes, taking extra time to make a decision can be a good thing (for instance, before signing a contract or joining the Armed Forces). However, if the issue is small, for example, which couch pillows to buy or whether to try a new sandwich for lunch, you’ll probably be happiest by not wasting time weighing the pros and cons and simply diving right in.

Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge
