Which week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your weekend has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: As your Week 1 goes on and estrogen rises, it’s easier to shrug off problems, downplay issues and put a positive spin on things, for instance, you may continue to play a game of tennis even though you hurt your knee or you may head to the mall to shop even though bills are piling up. That’s because higher levels of estrogen make you more optimistic, so you feel like you can figure out a way to make anything work.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 (or ovulation)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: You may surprise yourself with how much you can push yourself this weekend, for instance, by getting up super-early and staying up super-late, doing a workout that’s twice as long as usual or getting so focused on a project that you forget to eat all day. That’s high estrogen and testosterone for you. As these hormones climb toward their peaks, they’re boosting your energy and stamina, making it easier to go the extra mile.

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: If you’ve got stuff to get done this weekend, avoid sitting down on comfy chairs or turning on the TV. Rising progesterone, a sedating hormone, is already putting you on the slow side. Zoning out in front of the boob tube is enough to push you right into nap territory.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: You may end up examining and re-examining a problem in your life and still not coming up with an answer. With hormones plunging, you’re more introspective and at the same time less decisive. To avoid ruminating for hours on end, consider talking with a pal to get an impartial opinion and trusted advice.
