Week 1

Rising estrogen and testosterone makes pleasurable indulgences even more enjoyable by triggering a bigger surge in feel-good brain chemicals, which could make it harder to resist the urge to have more and more of it. By paying close attention to how much you eat, smoke or drink, you’ll be less likely to go overboard!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
This weekend’s hormone horoscope: Not only will you be okay about sudden changes in plans, you may actually hope for an unexpected snag in your schedule so you can do something impromptu and out of the ordinary this weekend. That’s because high estrogen and testosterone make you oh-so-bored with the same chores, restaurants, events and other activities you do week in and week out and they’re pushing you to mix things up!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
This weekend’s hormone horoscope: While you were comfortable basking in the spotlight during the first two weeks of your cycle, this week, you may feel shy and self-conscious. As a result, if you’re standing next to a cutie this weekend, you’re less likely to flirt and more likely to wonder if the object of your affection is zeroing in on the zit on your chin or if you’re asked to stand up at a dinner party and give a toast, you may be less likely to focus on charming the guests with your wit and more likely to regret wearing those peach-colored pants that you’re sure make your hips look huge!

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
This weekend’s hormone horoscope: Try not to let money worries spoil your fun this weekend. As estrogen and testosterone plunge during this premenstrual week, they make you less confident about your money situation, which means you could regret splurging at a farmer’s market or avoid going out altogether as a way to save cash. If money matters are on your mind, try to think of ways you can have fun for free or at a low cost, such as visiting friends, hosting a baking party or borrowing a movie from your local library. And when you do go out, set a budget and stick to it so you can enjoy weekend activities without the guilt!
