17 May Want less period pain? Inhale this
As a longtime health journalist, I come across a lot of studies about new medications and medical treatments. However, I’m a big fan of using natural, drug-free therapies whenever possible.
That’s why I’m excited to share with you a recent study that reveals yet another way lavender helps your menstrual cycle:
Reporting in the journal Complementary Therapies in Medicine, researchers found that women who sniff this sweet herb for five minutes every six hours during their period experience significantly less pelvic, back and headache pain.
Why it works? Lavender contains certain compounds that, when inhaled, lift mood, reduce stress and ease spasming in the uterus–all key for reducing menstrual cramps and sensitivity to pain.
To use it, dilute lavender essential oil in a non-fragrant base oil, such as sesame or jojoba, in a 2:1 ratio. Then, breathe it in about seven to ten centimeters from your nose. You could start feeling relief within minutes.
If you try it, let me know if works for you!
