Today’s hormonescope: It’ll be hard to resist splurging on impulse items today, like a new hair accessory, earrings or yummy-scented bath gel. Rising testosterone makes you more impulsive and rising estrogen is like your fourth-grade friend egging you on to do something totally naughty, promising you won’t get caught!
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: If you’ve got a headache, the sniffles, a hangnail or other health woe, you may be tempted to take whatever the first person offers, whether it’s a natural remedy, prescription pill or shot of vodka. That’s because high testosterone is making you impulsive and high estrogen is making you optimistic that if it works for the person offering it, it’ll work just fine for you, too. However, herbs don’t work the same on everyone, prescription pills are doled out by doctors for a reason and alcohol rarely resolves any health matter. So, stick to remedies you’ve used before or consult a real health professional (and your bar waitress doesn’t count)!
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You’ll likely be thinking of ways to save money, use your credit card points instead of cash, sell your books or CDs or find other ways to fatten your wallet. The reason? As estrogen and testosterone dip, they bring down your confidence in your finances. And rising progesterone is making you focus on safety, so you may want to build up your nest egg in case of emergencies.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may have one of those days where you think about the opportunities you wish you’d pursued, for instance, going back to school, following a different career, moving to a new town or telling a certain someone you have a mad crush. Why? As estrogen plunges, it makes you more self-reflective, plus it’s taking down the confidence you have in decisions you’ve already made. Luckily, there’s still time to pursue at least one of your goals. And taking a first step toward it, such as doing Internet research, making a phone call or buying a book, can change your whole outlook.
