My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: With rising estrogen and testosterone giving your body and mind extra oomph, this is the time of your cycle when you get inspired to tackle impromptu projects, for instance, you may see a scratch on your door and decide to repaint the whole thing, see a Facebook post for a cupcake contest and decide to try to create the one that’ll win or notice that laundry is piling up and decide it’s time to wash your clothes, the bedding, the dog’s bedding, the cat’s bedding and everything else made out of cloth!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: When I saw this video of hottie actor Ryan Gosling breaking up a fight in NYC’s East Village, my first thought was if I was on that street and saw that, I’d immediately take out the person standing next to me just so Ryan would come over and break up my fight, too! So, too, will you come up with sudden and dramatic grand schemes for capturing the attention of the person you’ve been eyeing. Credit for your creative flirting goes to high estrogen, which is pushing you to make a love connection, and high testosterone, which is amping up your libido to cycle-long highs!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Motivation is hard to come by these days as rising progesterone and lower levels of estrogen and testosterone sap your energy and slow down the spinning cogs in your brain. If you need to whirr back to life to get a task done, try tackling it in teeny tiny chunks, like starting out with one phone call or 10 minutes of Internet research. Studies show that cutting up big projects into easily achievable small ones makes it feel less overwhelming, which makes you more likely to power through the whole thing.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may be surprised that a teacher, friend or family member who you look up to has flaws, such as being egocentric or a little lazy. It’s not that this person has changed. Rather, your plunging estrogen is helping you see people in a more realistic light today as opposed to the first half of your cycle when optimism-boosting rising estrogen made you see them as smarter, more capable and more impressive than they really were. Try not to be disillusioned when someone’s foibles become clearer; we all have strengths and weaknesses no matter how awesome we are!
