That’s because this hormone is pumping up your mood (which makes you more accepting of unusual ideas) while also boosting your optimism (which revs your desire to make improvements in your life). As a result, you may want to launch into a big personal project (like designing a marketing plan or website for your small business) or round up your pals and bring them to an exciting event you heard about.
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: If there’s one piece of advice I’d like to impart to you today, it’s eat. Eat, eat, eat. Don’t skip meals. Don’t go a long time between meals. Instead, keep healthy snacks (like low-fat yogurt, nuts, sunflower seeds, string cheese or granola bars) nearby at all times. That’s because rising progesterone throughout your Week 3 makes you more sensitive to drops in blood sugar, which can trigger the hunger crankies. (I’m downright mean if you catch me hungry in my Week 3.) If you eat small nibbles throughout the day, you’ll keep your mood up and hunger-induced irritability at bay.
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Unlike Week 1 gals, as estrogen falls throughout your Week 1, you’re more dubious about new studies that show they can improve your life or health, you’re less prone to adopting new ways of doing tasks because you’re pretty sure the way you’re currently doing them is better, and friends would be wise to keep their advice to themselves this week of your cycle. That’s because plunging estrogen is making you less open to new ideas and pessimistic about their outcomes.
