Which week are you on in your cycle?
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormone-cast: Early on this week, your body may feel a shock as it switches from a steep descent in estrogen during Week 4 of your cycle to a sudden rise in estrogen this week. As a result, you may experience headaches, acne, diarrhea and other uncomfortable symptoms. By mid-week, your body should be getting used to the steady climb and these bothersome problems will likely fade.
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormone-cast: You may be tempted to take a walk down memory lane and look up old flames on Facebook, “accidentally” butt-dial an ex or think of a perfectly valid (and believable) excuse to visit a business where a former paramour works. You can blame high estrogen and testosterone for the extra curiosity today. As they rise, they boost your libido and desire to connect with someone other than who you’re with right now. But, it must be said, these people are in your past for a reason. Sometimes it’s best to let sleeping dogs (and cheating, underemployed, heavy drinking, unreliable, non-committed exes) lie.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormone-cast: Salespeople, co-workers and other folks who try to talk circles around you may annoy you today as rising progesterone makes you prefer a slower, mellower approach.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormone-cast: You’re more likely to be unsure of yourself and lack confidence today as plunging estrogen and testosterone rob your brain of feel-good brain chemicals. If you’ve got an important meeting, job interview or other event where you need to feel self-assured, try standing or sitting up straight. A recent study revealed that folks who hunched had less confidence in what they were saying than when they spoke while maintaining perfect posture!
