Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormone-cast: Estrogen is low, but rising, this week, which gives you a hankering to walk down memory lane and enjoy the kind of food, fun and people you remember from childhood or from past good times. As a result, you may end up at a favorite restaurant with old pals, book a trip to a spot you frequented with your family as a kid or score some old-timey Charleston Chew bars or other bygone sweets from nostalgic candy stores like nostalgiccandy.com.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormone-cast: Peaking testosterone amps up your libido and confidence. As a result, you’re less self-conscious about your body when getting intimate with your special someone, so you may opt to wear a revealing nightie or suggest a new place or position to try.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormone-cast: You may feel a little melancholy about important personal goals you haven’t met, projects you haven’t finished or the direction you’re life is taking as lower levels of estrogen and testosterone take away the rose-colored glasses from the last two weeks and make you see your life as it really is rather than how you want it to be. As a result, you may spend some time thinking about ways to get back on track or even take a first step toward a goal you want to meet.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormone-cast: You may struggle with habits you’re trying to break, such as drinking, eating sweets, shopping or smoking. The reason? As estrogen and testosterone plunge, they’re making you more likely to be achy, blue or irritable, and it just so happens that most of the activities we put on our habits-to-break list are things that fight these bad feelings by making us feel good.
