Which week are you on in your cycle?
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormone-cast: Trying to save money? Better watch out! While you may be able to resist the lure of big-ticket items, you may end up nickel-and-diming your way to an empty purse by the end of the day by purchasing a new lipstick, bag of chips, magazine or scented candle. Today’s rising testosterone makes you more likely to purchase these and other small impulse items.
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormone-cast: You may be more interested in learning useful information today, for instance, by going through your Blackberry manual to find out about features you’re not using, Googling ways to make your favorite dessert with half the fat or exploring new trip-on-a-tankful destinations nearby. Credit for the extra inquisitiveness goes to rising estrogen and testosterone, which have you feeling curious and make it easier for you to absorb new information.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormone-cast: You may get the urge to donate more time or money to worthwhile causes, such as Haiti relief, the SPCA or a children’s charity. As progesterone rises, it raises your nurturing instincts, making you more sensitive to the pain of others.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormone-cast: You get a special thrill out of a new episode of your favorite show, a new CD from your favorite band and a new book from a cherished author. Why? Plunging hormones make you happier when enjoying familiar entertainment you know and love and less interested in trying something different and unfamiliar.
