Which week are you on in your cycle?
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormone-cast: You’re connecting more with others today, both verbally and physically. Rising estrogen is making you chatty and willing to strike up a conversation with just about anyone. And you’re closing in on people’s personal space, doling out more arm touches, back pats, hugs and kisses!
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormone-cast: Woe to the landlord, salesperson, loan officer, co-worker or anyone else who tries to pull a fast one on you today. High estrogen and testosterone are sharpening your brain skills so you can see past their untruths, innuendos and double-crosses way more easily than in other weeks of your cycle. What’s more, this hormonal duo is filling you with the confidence to confront them and the verbal ability to trick them into revealing their web of lies.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormone-cast: The good news? Thanks to rising progesterone’s water retaining effects, you won’t have to run to the bathroom to pee as much during movies. The bad news? All that extra fluid is staying put in your body and puffing you up. An easy cure? Drink dandelion tea (found in health food stores), which is an all-natural diuretic. Not a fan of dandelion tea or have a latex allergy, which the tea can trigger? Try loading up on celery, asparagus, watercress and fennel, which also help your body release extra fluid.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormone-cast: Low on today’s to-do list: rollercoasters, mosh pits and one-day super-sales. Plunging estrogen and testosterone are making high-flying excitement and crowded, jostley events way less attractive. You’ll be happier doing low-key activities around your schedule with fewer people around, such as shopping at a small boutique you like, having lunch with a pal and totally taking control over the remote.
