Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormone-cast: A problem that’s been nagging you seems easier to solve thanks to estrogen and testosterone. When these hormones are on the rise, like they are today, they make you feel hopeful and more confident.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormone-cast: When someone asks you a question today, they should allot extra time for your answer—high estrogen is making you chatty!     

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormone-cast: If you’re trying to slim down, you may get frustrated with the bathroom scale today. Rising progesterone is triggering water retention and constipation, which can add an extra pound or two to your weight. The good news? If you can avoid getting discouraged by a rise in numbers and focus instead on exercising, progesterone will help your body burn up to 30% more fat this week and most of next week during your workout. So, by the end of Week 4, when progesterone has bottomed out, putting an end to water retention and constipation, you may be pleasantly surprised when you get back on that bathroom scale.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormone-cast: Is it you or are people just more irritating today? It’s you. More specifically, it’s your plunging estrogen, which shines a spotlight on everyone else’s shortcomings—such as their coffee breath, the way they inadvertently elbow-jab you when trying to scoot by or the horrible way their heels make that click-clickety racket by your desk all day, making you wish you could have a trap door button installed.
