My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your cycle?

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormone-cast: Whether you’ve been meaning to stick to a diet or not, you’ll notice that you’re eating a bit less today. As estrogen rises, it has a mild anti-suppressant effect that makes you eat about 12% less than you do during the second half of your cycle, Tufts University researchers found.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormone-cast: Thursday nights were made for Week 2 gals. With estrogen and testosterone as high as they are today, you’re in the mood for fun and excitement, and you’re not about to wait for the weekend to start to get it.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormone-cast: This week you move from extrovert to introvert courtesy of rising progesterone, which is slowing you down, quieting your chatter and making you wish something good was on TV and yummy in the fridge.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormone-cast: You may feel a bit blue or irritable as estrogen plunges today. No surprise there, right? Well, a recent study points to an easy, fun and free cure for your moody moments: play online games! A whopping 87% of folks who take a few minutes to chase balls, capture pirates or turn globs different shades of red report feeling happier in minutes.
