Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormone-cast: Want to save some money? Then avoid drugstores, supermarket check-outs and Target like the plague! Rising testosterone is making you more impulsive, which turns you into an easy mark for merchandisers who’ve conveniently placed candy, toys, magazines and other impulse items within easy reach where ever you turn.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormone-cast: Researchers have found that women are less trustful of others during this week of your cycle. They believe that, because it’s the fertile phase of your cycle, you’re more protective of whatever resources you have in case you get pregnant and need them. As a result, you may be less likely to lend money to a friend, let your sister borrow your favoite casserole dish or give your  BFF the last brownie.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormone-cast: Remind yourself to perk up your response to jokes by your boss, offers of a promotion, surprise gifts, requests for your hand in marriage and other events that require you to show excitement. Rising progesterone is making you sedate and far less likely to bubble over with enthusiasm when others expect you to.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormone-cast: Hold your nose! Plunging estrogen makes odors too much to bear—even those you’d normally like during other weeks of your cycle, like cinnamon buns and hot chocolate. So your neighbor’s fish fry, your roommate’s stinky sneakers and the office fridge are going to be definite stinkers.
