According to the researchers, it’s because high testosterone is amping up your competitiveness, ambition and derring-do, which makes you more likely to move out of your comfort zone and do something totally different!

Today’s hormonescope: If (okay, when) sedating progesterone makes it hard for you to rev your engines this week, try this easy energizing trick: Place a vase of colorful flowers by your bedside or in the kitchen. Folks who did this in a recent study reported feeling an instant surge in pep and happiness that lasted all day long. Researchers say our brain is naturally wired to awaken at the sight of beautiful bouquets since our ancestors took it as a sign that fruit or other food-bearing plants were nearby!
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You’re in the mood for foods you know you like, movies you’ve already seen and other tried-and-true indulgences. Off the table? Unusual foods—like poached eel or kumquat ice cream—arty movies and other not-so-typical fare. That’s because as estrogen and testosterone plunge this week, they make you less interested in taking risks or being challenged like they did during the first two weeks of your cycle when they were on the rise.
