Which week are you on in your cycle?
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You wanna learn new things, meet new people, try out new outfits, travel to new places and do anything else that’s novel and definitely not routine. Why? As estrogen and testosterone rise, they boost brain chemicals that make experimenting seem like fun. And if the results don’t turn out like you’d hoped, these same mood-lifting brain chemicals make it easier to rebound quickly and move on to the next new activity.
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Friends should keep video cameras handy when they’re around you today. High testosterone is boosting your impulsivity, confidence and comfort with being the center of attention. And this means you’re more likely to do risky things that could end in hilarious disaster—such as a spontaneous table dance routine, fire baton juggling or challenging a big biker dude to an arm wrestle—that could win them big money on funniest home video shows.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You’re not as concerned about your appearance as you were during the first half of your cycle when rising estrogen had you focusing on how folks around you viewed you. With estrogen at lower levels this week, you’re likely spending less time on your hair, perhaps skipping makeup, wearing more comfortably fitting clothes and daring to wear your favorite Crocs in public.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Trust the hunches and signs you get today. You may not realize it, but research shows that the down mood you get from plunging estrogen actually makes you better at spotting details and picking up on the real message behind people’s words. As a result, you’re more apt to see through a salesperson’s pitch, notice a killer sale buried in a stack of recycled newspaper you’re throwing out or get struck with insight or a brilliant idea that seems to come out of nowhere.
