Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You may notice that you’re standing up straighter, showing more teeth as you smile and volunteering your opinion more often. The reason? High testosterone is boosting your confidence and making you exude self-assurance. Have a project you’ve been wanting to pitch or favor you’ve wanted to ask? Try doing it today. Research shows that a key factor in hearing a “yes” to a request is how much confidence you show when asking!
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Unlike the first half of your cycle, you’re doing a lot more retreating during these last two weeks. For example, you may be pulling yourself out of a dance class, backing out of a project, breaking it off with someone you’re dating or giving up on a wild lifestyle. Why? As estrogen and testosterone plunge to lower levels and progesterone rises, you’re second-guessing your abilities and desires, plus you’re losing the steam you relied on to chase the things you thought you wanted.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Woe to the snoring mate/meowling cat/barking dog/noisy neighbor who wakes you up tonight. Plunging estrogen makes it harder to get to sleep and fall back asleep after being woken up. Why? As this hormone descends, it brings down serotonin, a brain chemical that helps regulate sleep. Even worse, less estrogen leads to greater aches, pains and sensitivity to annoyances that can keep you up.
