My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: Your confidence increases more and more as the week goes on thanks to rising estrogen and testosterone. As a result, you’ll be doing less second-guessing than you did in the second half of your cycle and asking folks around you to follow your lead!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: This week’s high estrogen is fun because it boosts playfulness, your sense of adventure and energy. However, there’s a dark side to high estrogen, too: It can trigger anxiety and stress about issues big and small, such as exams, job interviews and meeting your sweetheart’s parents. If you find yourself starting to spiral into a stress-out, try to distract yourself, meditate, sip chamomile tea or do other things that bring your heart rate down. And if those don’t work, try eating a doughnut. Strange as it sounds, researcher found that a combination of sugar and fat reduce the body’s output of stress hormones!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You’ll be talking a little slower today than you did in Week 2 of your cycle. Plus, you’ll be using fewer higher and lower notes as you speak and will probably be making a few verbal flubs and forgetting facts and words you knew down pat last week. The problem? Rising progesterone. This sedating hormone takes the energy out of your voice, makes you less verbally fluent and fogs up your memory a bit. If you’ve got an important meeting or job interview you need to ace, you can get around progesterone’s talk-interrupting influence by reminding yourself to up your enthusiasm and taking a moment to think before you speak so you know exactly what you want to say.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Your challenge for today is to try to avoid jumping to conclusions. That’s because you tend to be doubtful of people’s motives today as plunging estrogen makes you a tad more pessimistic and prone to seeing the dark side of things. As a result, you may take a Facebook post someone writes as a personal hidden insult or come up with a million reasons why someone didn’t call you when they said they did rather than accept their excuse that they simply forgot.
