My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: Thanks to rising estrogen, which makes you more goal-oriented, flexible and open-minded, you’re more open to change today. This change might involve watching a new TV show, talking to a stranger or signing up for a class. Or it could involve change in yourself, for instance, tweaking your personality to be a different kind of person you always wanted to be, for instance, a social butterfly or less of a perfectionist.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: High estrogen and testosterone make you more likely to experience intensely happy moods. And while that’s a good thing, a new study in the Journal of Consumer Research shows it can also wreak havoc with your health! The reason? Feeling super-happy makes you more impulsive, which makes you more likely to eat “naughty” foods, smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol or try any of the other usual baddies.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You’ll be happier sticking with things you know and love, like food, drinks, people, places and driving routes, than trying something new today. That’s because rising progesterone and lower levels of estrogen and testoterone have you preferring to play it safe and surround yourself with familiar things and people. This hormone combo is also making you more likely to find fault with new experiences, for instance, the new food doesn’t taste like you hoped or the new folks you hang out with turn out to be annoying.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Channel your emotions through creativity today, for instance, by writing, doodling, singing, playing guitar or painting. Plunging estrogen and testosterone can make you feel a bit on edge, down or frustrated, and letting out your inner artist can help you shed negative feelings and prevent them from popping up in the first place by boosting brain chemicals that pump up your mood.
