My Hormonology Which week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: I’m the first to admit that I love it when estrogen and testosterone rise in Week 1 since they boost mood, energy and brain skills the higher they climb. However, when these hormones first start to lift in Week 1 after falling so far in Week 4, you could end up feeling a few side effects as your body readjusts, including loose stool or diarrhea, frequent urination, headaches, acne, flare-ups of chronic health problems, dizziness and/or a racing heartbeat. Luckily, if you’re bothered by any of these symptoms, they usually start to subside by mid-week so you can enjoy all the fun benefits these rising hormones bring!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may find an event or experience more uplifting or thrilling than usual, such as a class, movie, religious service or workout. Credit goes to high estrogen and testosterone, which boost brain chemicals that make you feel more easily excited and enthusiastic!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: During Week 1 and Week 2 of your cycle, rising estrogen and testosterone had you curious about the world around you. As they dip to lower levels this week and sedating progesterone rises, your curiosity turns inward. As a result, you may question why you feel a certain way about an issue, wonder how you can better motivate yourself to reach a goal or study other aspects of your personality a little more closely.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may be more bummed out by disappointments today than you would during other weeks of your cycle. That’s because plunging estrogen and testosterone make you more prone to down moods and reduce your resilience, making it more difficult to bounce back from setbacks. It’s not impossible to get past obstacles; it’s just not as effortless as if you faced the same challenges during the first half of your cycle.
