Estrogen and testosterone rise
Today’s hormone horoscope: The energy boost you get from rising estrogen and testosterone today may give you a second wind about a project that you’ve been getting bored with or have been tempted to set aside. You’ll also find it easier to dream up new strategies and ways to make this stalled venture work.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s hormone horoscope: Nervous habits—like nail biting, skin scratching, hair twisting, toe tapping and grinding your teeth—may worsen today as rising estrogen amps up your energy and stress levels. And, they’ll get even more pronounced if you indulge in your usual five cups of whatever caffeine-fueled beverage you down every day. Need to spare your nails, skin, hair, toes or teeth? Start sipping chamomile tea, which contains compounds that have a soothing effect.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again
Today’s hormone horoscope: You have the opposite problem of Week 2 gals: Thanks to rising progesterone and lower levels of estrogen and testoterone, your get-up-and-go has got up and went. Luckily, there are lots of easy, proven caffeine-free ways to rev your motor again: sip mint tea (the menthol scent wakes up a tired brain), take a walk (which gets more oxygen-rich blood to muscles and your brain) or listen to upbeat music (which triggers a surge of energizing dopamine in the brain).

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge
Today’s hormone horoscope: Be careful of letting your imagination run away with you today. With estrogen and testosterone on the downswing, you may be tempted to think the worst of anything, for instance, that a little red patch on your elbow means you’re having a bad reaction to a medicine, the electric company will shut off your power if you’re a week late with the payment or that a minor mistake at work may cost you your job. Before jumping to conclusions and freaking yourself out, take a deep breath and consult with a pal or family member who can give you an objective opinion.
