My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may be inspired to do errands that take you away from home—for example, go on a hunt for the perfect cupcake or try a new restaurant in the next town over—especially if you’re in the second half of your Week 1. The reason? As estrogen and testosterone rise, they make you more outgoing and curious, which makes you want to come up with any reason to go out into the world and explore!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Your challenge today, Week 2 gal, is to avoid starting more projects than you can finish. With peaking estrogen and testosterone making your energy and impulsiveness soar, you may want to tackle everything you have on your to-do list and add ones at the last minute—for instance, you may see dust on the blinds and suddenly decide to take them down and scrub them or you may see a wilted flower in your garden and suddenly decide to install a whole new garden in a single day. However, you’ll likely be happiest when accomplishing one project at a time and conquering long overdue tasks before adding new ones to your probably already overloaded to-do list.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: It could be difficult to muster motivation during Week 3 as rising progesterone saps your pep. To get revved about a project, try a few study-proven techniques: Start out with the idea of tackling just one little part of it rather than imagining doing the whole thing; once you get rolling, you’ll likely continue. Imagine a more difficult task you have to do; researchers found that thinking of more time- and energy-consuming projects makes the task in front of you seem like a breeze. Or picture the kudos or money you’ll make as a result of finishing the task; research shows that the joy of a project’s rewards can up your motivation to finally complete it.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Some experts believe your powers of intuition sharpen during your premenstrual Week 4. The reason? Plunging estrogen makes you more sensitive to your environment, which means you could be better at picking up subtle body signals, details and warning signs that others might miss.
