First day of period to Day 7

Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Watch out for anxiety triggers today. High estrogen is making your response to stress longer-lasting and more intense. In fact, researchers discovered this by dosing teenage boys with estrogen and then giving them a difficult math test. Those who received estrogen experienced significantly more anxiety during the exam than those who didn’t receive the hormone!
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: During the first half of Week 3, you may feel irritable, cranky and moody as estrogen plunges, triggering “pre-PMS”, which is like PMS, only shorter and less intense. If you’re in the second half of your Week 3, pre-PMS ends as estrogen rises, leveling out your mood. If you feel blue or even depressed, it could be due to rising progesterone, which can trigger sadness in women who are sensitive to it.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
