Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Wednesday, July 14, 2010

My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your cycle?

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: Gone are the baggy grey and black shirt and shorts you wore during the second half of your cycle. You’ll be picking more colorful, form-fitting clothes from of your wardrobe this week as rising estrogen and testosterone bolster your confidence, amp up your mood and make you want to flirt.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: As estrogen and testosterone climb high today, you’re craving excitement in all aspects of your life, for instance, you may flirt with someone who’s got a lot of power or who’s a bit of a wild child, you might drive faster than usual and you’ll probably opt for seeing an action thriller over a romantic comedy.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You may feel a twinge of guilt over not spending enough time with those who care about you as rising progesterone ups your urge to connect and nurture relationships in your life. As a result, you may send out a few emails to pals, text your sister, take your kids or dog out to the park or make a date with your sweetie.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You’re likely to spend money on food, services and items that comfort you today. This is a natural reaction to falling estrogen and testosterone. As they plunge, they trigger uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms, such as headache, back pain, nausea, stomach aches, moodiness and irritability. And research shows that treating yourself to little pick-me-ups helps boost brain chemicals that make you feel good again.
