Which week are you on in your cycle?

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You’ll likely get bored by the same-old same-old routine today as rising estrogen makes you prize fun and novelty over the ordinary. So, try mixing things up by going to a silly place for lunch, sneaking in a shopping trip to a unique boutique or doing anything else that breaks up a hum-drum day and brings a smile to your face.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: People should allot more time when they ask you a question today. Thanks to high estrogen, you’re talking like it’s your job! What’s more, you’re racing through your words, are using a sing-songy speech pattern that includes more higher and lower notes and are bouncing from idea to idea to idea to, well, you get the picture.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Don’t believe the scale or your waistband today. Progesterone is triggering bloat and constipation, which can make you feel heavier. But, these effects are temporary and will naturally subside by the end of Week 4. And if you want to make them disappear sooner, try sipping dandelion tea, which is a natural diuretic that prompts your body to release excess fluid, and upping your intake of fiber, for instance, from whole fruits, vegetables and grains, which helps relieve constipation.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may feel a tad self-conscious about your appearance today as plunging estrogen brings down your self-confidence. At the same time, you’re just not interested in dressing up, wearing shoes that pinch or fixing that weird thing that your hair has decided to do.
