Which week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: I’m the first to admit that I love it when my estrogen and testosterone rise thanks to the good mood, sharper memory, higher libido and other goodies they bring. However, when these hormones first start to rise in Week 1 after falling so far in Week 4, you could end up feeling a few side effects as your body readjusts, including loose stool or diarrhea, frequent urination, headaches, acne, flare-ups of chronic health problems, dizziness and/or a racing heartbeat. Luckily, if you’re bothered by any of these symptoms, they usually start to subside by the middle of Week 1 so you can then enjoy all the fun benefits these rising hormones bring!
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Some may say you’re a little colder or more flippant than during other weeks of your cycle, for instance, you may think a fired co-worker had it coming to him for poor performance, an acquaintance deserved to get dumped for flirting with someone else or that a celebrity who got accused of shoplifting should cool her heels in jail for a little while. Why the lack of heart? High estrogen and testosterone are making you less sentimental and emotionally attached, which can lower the empathy you have for others.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You have the opposite problem of Week 2 gals: You may feel more empathetic than during other times of your cycle, leading you to offer to help a fired co-worker find a new job, lend an ear to a friend who just got dumped or write a comment on TMZ.com about why a celeb got totally railroaded and is getting pushed around because of her celebrity status. Why the extra dose of heart? Rising progesterone is bringing out your nurturing side and lower levels of estrogen and testosterone make you less emotionally detached.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may indulge in your favorite guilty pleasures today, like hours of reality TV, bowls of Doritos or a few mojitos. Blame for your wicked ways goes to plunging estrogen, which makes you more likely to turn to indulgent mood-boosting treats that threaten to totally blow every work and diet resolution you ever had.
