Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Tuesday, October 23, 2012

My Hormonology Which week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Depending on where you are in your Week 1, rising estrogen and testosterone will be turning your thoughts more and more toward romance. If you’re in the first half of your Week 1 and cramps and low energy from menstruation are bothering you, you may feel just a slight desire to flirt with cuties you see. If it’s the second half of your Week 1 and cramps are gone and energy is rising, then you probably won’t be able to stop yourself from flirting up a storm!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Just because your high estrogen and testosterone have you moving at the speed of light, Week 2 gal, it doesn’t mean everyone else will be moving at your pace, too. So, expect to be frustrated by slow supermarket cashiers, slow drivers and slow-talking folks who never ever ever seem to get to the point!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may find that you’re thinking of home problems that need fixing that you put off during the first half of your cycle when rising estrogen and testosterone boosted your optimism, making it feel as though the problem would resolve itself. Now that these two hormones dip and safety-conscious progesterone rises, you’re likely thinking of the water filter that needs to be replaced, the leaking toilet that needs to be fixed and other to-dos that should have been to-done a long time ago.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You’re at risk of having your confidence blown by something someone says or something you do today. The problem? Plunging estrogen and testosterone are bringing down feel-good chemicals in your brain, making it harder to rebound from minor setbacks. My advice: When you feel your confidence slipping, remember that your descending hormones are making the situation seem worse than it is. Then, think of all the good qualities you love about yourself. Research shows that reminding yourself of your positive traits can help boost self-esteem.
