Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Tuesday, October 2, 2012

My Hormonology Which week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Accept any and all invitations for this week and next, and if you aren’t handed any, then find a group, seminar, networking event or party you can invite yourself to. As estrogen and testosterone rise during the first half of your cycle, they’re making you happier when spending time with old friends, new folks, fellow students and work colleagues!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: No matter how fast everyone else is going, they’re probably not going fast enough for you. For instance, the supermarket cashier may seem like she’s moving in slo-mo. The driver ahead of you may seem to be riding his brakes. And your neighbor may not seem to be able to ever get to her point! The problem is your high estrogen and testosterone are amping up your pep, making you want everyone to move at the same high speed you are!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Sleep is tricky this week: If it’s the first half of your Week 3, you’re at a higher risk of experiencing bouts of insomnia due to plunging estrogen, which lowers your brain’s level of sleep-regulating serotonin. If it’s the second half of your Week 3, you’re more likely to have deeper sleep as estrogen rises along with sedating progesterone, which provide your brain with a double-whammy of sleep-inducing chemicals!

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Heads up, ladies with allergies, arthritis, fibromyalgia, IBS or another chronic condition: As estrogen plunges in Week 4, it makes you more likely to have a flare-up. If you can, take preventive measures to lower your risk of a problem or have whatever remedy you use nearby to nip symptoms in the bud!
