Which week are you on in your cycle?
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: Take advantage of rising estrogen and testosterone energy to power through tasks you’ve been putting off. And if you time your day right, you can get even more done! That’s because research shows that Tuesday between 10 and and noon is the most productive time of the week for most people. The reason? By Tuesday, you’ve caught up on emails, phone calls and work left over from the previous Friday and weekend and you usually haven’t yet been deluged with to-dos for this week. And, 10 am to noon is when most of us reach our daily peak for pep and focus.
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You’ll probably be sharing your opinions with others today and even persuading others to adopt your point of view. That’s because high estrogen and testosterone are making your confidence in your beliefs soar. In addition, these hormones are making you chattier and more outgoing, so you’re more comfortable bringing up touchy or controversial subjects with others than you are during other weeks of your cycle.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You’re the total opposite of Week 2 gals. You have little interest in debating hot topics or spending precious energy trying to convince others to adopt your point of view. In fact, I feel a little sorry for you if you come face-to-face with a Week 2 gal (especially one who’s been super-fueled by caffeine) who corners you into a debate. You’ll most likely want to find a gracious exit fast. You can try using a technique one of my neighbors uses on me quite frequently: When she’s done talking about the stuff she wants to talk about and I start to bring up topics, all of a sudden she remembers that she left something cooking on the stove and makes a mad dash back into her house. She’s either the world’s most forgetful cook or she has an exit strategy you simply can’t argue with!
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may find the passionate fire for a project you were thrilled about a couple of weeks ago has died down as plunging estrogen and testosterone bring down excitement levels. Luckily, there are easy, proven ways to get that passion back and become reinvigorated about your project: think back to what got you started on it in the first place, consider all the ways your project helps you or others, and read articles, watch movies or speak to folks who did what you want to do.
