Which week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You know that song, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”? Not many people know this, but it’s really an ode to Week 1 and Week 2 of your cycle. That’s because when estrogen and testosterone climb, they make you want to break out of boring ruts and go on big adventures. I bring this up because summer is right around the corner, so Week 1 and Week 2 you may get a little antsier than usual about plotting exciting getaways and fun warm-weather trips with friends.
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: High estrogen is making you use higher and lower notes today and making you speak way faster. If you’re on a job interview or pitching a male boss a project, try to lower your voice a bit (to do it, simply lower your chin) and slow down. Research shows that speaking low and slow makes you sound more professional and it helps men, who have fewer language centers in their brain than women, keep up with you.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You have the opposite problem of Week 2 gals: When on a job interview or pitching an important project, try to perk up your enthusiasm, use higher notes and smile more. Rising progesterone is making you subdued, which can have you come off as bored or disinterested.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Try to avoid impulsively making big, permanent changes to your appearance today, like chopping seven inches off your hair or getting a tattoo. Plunging estrogen may make you frustrated with the same-old same-old, prompting a desire for a drastic change, but it’s also lowering feel-good brain chemicals, which can result in you totally not liking the new you. If you still want to make the change in Week 1 and Week 2 when estrogen is on the rise, then go for it. The climbing hormones during those weeks will make you happier with the results.
