Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: As estrogen rises higher and higher during your Week 1, it’s giving you a bit of wanderlust, making you want a change of scenery as well as a little excitement. As a result, you may be dreaming of a quick getaway to visit friends, a day at an amusement park or heading off to another adventure.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 (or ovulation)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Your physical strength and stamina reach their peaks in this week of your cycle thanks to high estrogen and testosterone. So, if you’ve got physically demanding tasks to do–say, painting a room or cleaning out the garage–try to fit them in before Week 3 comes around when dropping levels of these hormones have your inner Hulk fading away.

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle

Go ahead and indulge: Small treats help raise levels of feel-good brain chemicals that sag as estrogen plunges, boosting your mood. Just be careful not to go overboard since the ensuing guilt and stress can put the kibosh on any positive feelings these treats gave you.
