Which week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You’re going to notice that your memory sharpens, you’re more eloquent as you speak and you’re thinking faster on your feet compared to Weeks 3 & 4 of your cycle. Credit goes to rising estrogen and testosterone, which boost your cognitive and speech skills, making them better and better all the way through to the end of Week 2!
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You’re easily bored today as peaking estrogen and testosterone amp up your energy and desire for adventure. This can make it difficult to focus on work or ho-hum tasks on your to-do list. An easy remedy: Promise yourself something fun and different for getting through the dull parts of your day, like planning a late night with gal-pals at a new restaurant or summoning the courage to flirt with a cutie you’ve been eyeing!
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: I can usually tell when a woman on TV, like a newscaster or expert who’s being interviewed, is in Week 3 of her cycle. That’s because she usually ends up tripping over her words, saying “um” and “ah” between words, losing her train of thought and speaking more slowly and in a monotone voice. So, too, will you probably end up having the same verbal challenges today. Blame goes to rising progesterone, which dampens memory, speed, intonation and verbal ability. Meanwhile, estrogen and testosterone dip to lower levels, so you don’t have them on your side improving your fluency like you did during Weeks 1 & 2. So, what can you do if you have a meeting, job interview or TV appearance where you need top-notch speaking skills? You’ll avoid verbal stumbles when you rehearse what you want to say beforehand and try to pause for a moment and think about the sentence you want to say before you say it.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You’re going to probably gravitate toward trash TV (like reality programs or talk shows), celebrity gossip websites or other low-brow forms of entertainment. It’s not your fault: Plunging estrogen and testosterone are sapping your energy and willpower, making it virtually impossible to resist these guilty pleasures!
