My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your cycle?

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: Make plans to install a new garden, paint your bedroom, fix a leaky faucet or do any other project you’ve been meaning to get to. Rising estrogen and testosterone are giving you a gust of energy to tackle these tasks. Just make sure you plan to get these to-dos done before Week 3 hits. That’s when rising progesterone takes the wind out of your sails and saps motivation, adding more to your pile of half-finished projects.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Some may call you stubborn today as you dig your heels in and refuse to budge on issues or opinions. High estrogen and testosterone are making you confident about where you stand and not caring about what happens if you don’t give an inch.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You’re happiest when feathering the nest today as rising progesterone boosts your desire to have comfortable, beautiful surroundings. As a result, you may clean a bit, rearrange furniture, hang decorations, burn scented candles, buy new pillows or beautify your home in other ways.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Plunging estrogen makes you more sensitive to aromas and noise. So, even scents and music you usually enjoy during other weeks of your cycle can end up annoying you. The keep your mood from getting ruined, stick to mellow scents, or none at all, and be ready to change the radio or iPod quickly if the music starts to grate your nerves.
