My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: Keep your eye on the clock around 8 a.m. today and every day of Week 1 and Week 2. Research shows that you’ll feel like you have more time than you really do during this phase of the day, which can end up making you late to work, school or important events. Blame goes to hormones, which make your body clock run slower at certain times of your cycle.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Be careful of having unrealistic expectations of other people today. High estrogen is making you more optimistic than during other weeks of your cycle. And while that’s usually a good thing, it could lead you to be more confident than you should be that your mate will pick up on the birthday gift hints you’ve been dropping, your friend will agree to do you a favor in return for the dozens you’ve done for her or that someone else will act the way you wish they would rather than how they usually do. Avoid disappointment by lowering your expectations a bit. That way, if they exceed them, you’ll be thrilled and if they don’t, it won’t be a surprise.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Last week, high testosterone had you more comfortable leading the pack. This week, lower levels of testosterone plus rising progesterone make you more comfortable being a team player. Others will appreciate your willingness to hear their opinions and share the credit for a job well done.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You have the opposite problem of Week 2 gals; your plunging estrogen and testosterone make you see the world slightly less rosy than it really is. As a result, you may have to guard yourself against acting too pessimistically, for instance, when telling a pal that her relationship has no hope of surviving her boyfriend eating the last Mallowmar, when throwing your whole printer in the trash just because the ink cartridge got stuck or when deciding to delete your entire blog because you were sure no one was reading it.
