Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Tuesday, July 24, 2012

Hormonology uses hundreds of scientific studies to show you how your hormones impact you in virtually every way every day of your monthly cycle. The Hormone Horoscope is a nifty little way of dispensing this information daily. To get started, find the week you’re on in your monthly cycle (you can use this easy guide if you’re not sure), then read your Hormone Horoscope for today!

My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: It’ll be hard to resist splurging on impulse items today, like a new hair accessory, earrings or yummy-scented bath gel. Rising testosterone makes you more impulsive and rising estrogen is making you optimistic that you can afford anything you put into your shopping cart!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: If you’ve got a headache, the sniffles, a hangnail or other health woe, you may be tempted to take whatever the first person offers, whether it’s a natural remedy, prescription pill or shot of vodka. That’s because high testosterone is making you impulsive and high estrogen is making you optimistic that if it works for the person offering it, it’ll work just fine for you, too.  However, herbs don’t work the same on everyone, prescription pills are doled out by doctors for a reason and alcohol rarely resolves any health matter. So, stick to remedies you’ve used before or consult a real health professional (and your bar waitress doesn’t count!).

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You’ll likely be thinking of ways to save money, use your credit card points instead of cash, sell your books or CDs or find other ways to fatten your wallet. The reason? As estrogen and testosterone dip, they bring down your confidence in your finances. And rising progesterone is making you focus on safety, so you may want to build up your nest egg in case of emergencies.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may be inspired to face problems that have been long simmering, but which you’ve tried to ignore. That’s because plunging estrogen brings down your patience and optimism, which means you’re less willing to put up with annoying behavior and you’re not about to make excuses for why the offending party is acting like such a dillweed. (Yes, I’m talking to you, next door neighbor who smokes your cigarettes outside so it doesn’t stink up your house, but doesn’t mind blowing it straight into mine!) Anyway, you’re apt to blow your stack and reveal how you really feel about the situation, which isn’t really a bad thing since you’ll never get the resolution you want without bringing things out in the open. See, there’s one upside to premenstrual blow-ups!
