Week 1
First day of period to Day 7

That’s because as estrogen and testosterone rise, they boost your confidence and go-get-it spirit!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You may get the urge to spend a little cash on products or services that boost your beauty, such as getting a teeth whitening kit from the drugstore, coloring your hair at the salon or investing in a new outfit. The reason? As estrogen climbs, it makes you concerned about how your appearance looks to others.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Try to ignore the bathroom scale today. Progesterone is playing a mean trick on your body by making you retain water and slowing digestion, causing constipation. As a result, you’re probably carrying around one or two extra pounds that will disappear by the end of Week 4.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You’re going to be more picky this week than during any other week of your cycle. But, you have reason to be! Plunging estrogen is making you sensitive to smells, flavors, sounds, touch and things you see around you. So foods, places and people that wouldn’t bother someone else could end up grating your nerves.
