Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: If you need more friends in your life, this week is the time to seek them out. Rising estrogen is making you comfortable talking with new people and rising testosterone is making you bold enough to attend new events. So, head to free classes at your local library, wine tastings, art exhibits, music shows and other places where you can find like-minded folks near you!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Your competitive spirit is high thanks to peaking testosterone. This means you’ll be less likely to back down from a fight, more likely to accept invitations for games you’re sure you’ll win (or die trying!) and have the confidence to send in more resumes to job openings since you know you’ll outshine the other applicants.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Thoughts of sex are fewer and further between as rising progesterone dampens libido, but that doesn’t mean you don’t want to cuddle with your hony. Just the opposite! Known as the bonding hormone, progesterone has you enjoying hugs, kisses, caresses and other types of warm affection.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may find it hard to focus today as plunging estrogen and testosterone lower your ability to concentrate. Unfortunately, this could mean letting a whole day pass without getting a single task finished. To help you stay on track, try making a “to-do” list and a “not to do” list. That way, when you find yourself beginning to stray over to Facebook, walk past a chatty neighbor, head to the kitchen when you’re not even close to hungry or turn on the TV, you can bring yourself back on course and put more time into the tasks that need to get done.
