Which week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: When shopping during the second half of your cycle, progesterone has you eyeing rugs, tables, dishes, blankets, candles and other items that spruce up your home or yard. During Weeks 1 and 2, however, rising estrogen and testosterone are making you eye items that make you look better, for instance, clothes, jewelry, haircare products, spa services, shoes, purses and cosmetics.
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Whether you realize it or not, you’re going to be more flirtatious today. That’s because when estrogen reaches the heights it does this week, it makes you use more of a sing-songy voice, gets you to smile wider so you show more teeth, gives your face a bit of a glow, makes your facial features a tad more symmetrical and pumps up your body’s output of come-hither pheremones—all proven ways to attract hotties within a five-mile radius.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Sedating progesterone is going to be slowing you down, which is a good thing since it makes it easier to focus on projects that involve fine detail, like painting, sewing or editing pages of your novel. This hormone is also making you quieter than in past weeks. So, hang around pals who won’t take your silent moments personally.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Getting to sleep or staying asleep will likely be more difficult tonight as plunging estrogen lowers your brain’s level of sleep-regulating serotonin. Luckily, there’s an easy way to help you sleep better: count your blessings. In a recent University of Manchester study, folks who thought about reasons to be thankful, such as having a loving partner, good health or even their pets, fell asleep faster, woke up fewer times and enjoyed higher energy levels during the day than those who didn’t think of reasons to be grateful.
