Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: It’s easier to eat healthier today thanks to rising estrogen, which lowers your appetite a little and makes you more resolute about sticking to a good diet. This makes it a perfect day to start new healthy eating habits or return to healthy habits you dropped!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You get more easily excited by new ideas and plans today thanks to high estrogen and testosterone. This could mean that you come up with something big, like a great proposal for a side business, or you spend hours thinking up a funny name for a new Facebook profile that your boss, mom and exes can’t find.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Compared to the first two weeks of your cycle, your smile isn’t as wide, you’re quieter, using fewer higher and lower notes as you speak, covering up your body a little more, wearing more subdued colors and moving a bit slower. The reason? Point the finger squarely at rising progesterone. This sedating hormone is slowing you down and making you a bit more reserved, even shy.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Your inner diva may come out today as plunging estrogen and testosterone make you a bit less patient with people, circumstances, the weather, food, you name it.
