Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Thursday, September 22, 2011

My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You could be secretly plotting to catch a glimpse of a cutie you have your eye on, for instance, by heading to the gym at a certain time or going to a certain shop where your object of affection works. That’s because, as testosterone rises, it fills your head with more and more lusty thoughts, which makes watching, flirting and connecting with someone more fun than usual!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Be on the lookout for sudden bouts of euphoria. High estrogen and testosterone are pumping your brain full of feel-good chemicals, so you may feel a tremendous surge of happiness, love, gratitude or another positive emotion out of the blue. Enjoy it when it hits—it won’t last for long and it’s far less likely to pop up in any other week of your cycle!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You’re probably going to be wagging your finger at speeding drivers, reckless skateboarders and cheerleaders who dare to be the top of the pyramid as rising progesterone ups your desire for safety and makes you more afraid of taking risks.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Avoid breaking in new shoes, pushing yourself harder than usual at the gym, waxing any part of your body and doing any other ouch-inducer. Week 4 is when you’re most sensitive to pain due to plunging estrogen, which brings down pain-masking endorphins in the brain.
