Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: Folks who want their way or need a helping hand might wanna flock around you today. That’s because you’re more open to compromise and are more likely to say “yes” to a favor thanks to rising estrogen, which makes you more flexible and altruistic.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You may find it difficult to concentrate today as you’re easily distracted by facebook, email, text messages, celebrity gossip, neighborhood gossip and virtually anything else. The reason? As estrogen and testosterone climb, they make you more curious about the world around you and interested in learning new details. Need to get work done? Block out all the usual baddies that steal your focus, for instance, by shutting down programs, putting cell phones on silent and adorning doors with a “do not disturb” sign.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Your credit cards get a breather today as impulsive spending goes down along with plunging testosterone. Unless, however, you see a cute pillow, yummy-smelling candle, perfect picture frame or another item that will spruce up your home. Then rising progesterone, which amps up your urge to feather the nest, will be prodding you to buy them.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may feel it’s time to right a wrong—for instance, write a complaint email, talk to a lawyer about a lawsuit or even press charges. Plunging estrogen is lowering feel-good brain chemicals, which makes it harder to ignore injustices, problems and irritations.
