Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: Try to avoid saying “yes” too much today. Rising estrogen is making you overly optimistic that you can take on any project, responsibility and task that folks ask you to do. But, you may be forgetting about all the other tasks you’ve already agreed to, which can lead to schedule overload and the kind of stress you probably don’t need.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You may push yourself a little harder today, for instance, to go an extra 20 minutes on the treadmill, stay an extra hour at work (while also skipping lunch) or staying up late to party with friends. That’s because high estrogen and testosterone are pumping up your energy and mood, making it easier and more rewarding to put a little extra into whatever it is you do.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Try to take the pace of your life down a notch to match the progesterone slow-down you’re experiencing. You’ll be happier by taking on fewer projects, accepting fewer invites and cutting down a workout or other rigorous routine. That way, you won’t completely poop out before sundown arrives.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: This week is when your inner absent-minded professor comes out: You’re a little muddled, a tad forgetful and pretty uncoordinated. The culprit? Plunging estrogen and testosterone, which bring down your brain powers and dexterity as they descend.
