Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Thursday, March 28, 2013

Hormonology uses hundreds of scientific studies to show you how your hormones impact you in virtually every way every day of your monthly cycle. The Hormone Horoscope is a nifty little way of dispensing this information daily. To get started, find the week you’re on in your monthly cycle (you can use this easy guide if you’re not sure), then read your Hormone Horoscope for today!

My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: As your estrogen climbs higher and higher this week, you may feel like you want to make an upgrade to your appearance, for example, changing your hairstyle or getting new clothes. The reason? This hormone makes you more focused on how others perceive you, plus it’s raising your self-esteem, making you feel as though you’re worth the improvement!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 (or ovulation)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: While today’s high estrogen and testosterone are more likely to put you in a really good mood, truth is, they’re also just as likely to lead you to get really ticked off about something that annoys you, making you go on a rant of epic proportions. The reason? These hormones are making you more easily excited, they’re making you prone to expressing yourself verbally and they’re pumping up your confidence in your opinions. This could result in you locking horns about politics with a co-worker, trying to persuade your sweetheart to adopt your clearly better viewpoint on a topic or simply yelling at newscasters on the television.

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Try to avoid skipping meals or going too long between meals. Rising progesterone can make your blood sugar more likely to drop when you go hungry, which can lead to fatigue, irritability, fogginess and the blues. By eating smaller meals more frequently throughout the day and keeping healthy snacks (such as low-fat granola bars or string cheese) nearby, you’ll help keep your blood sugar (and mood) stable.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Research shows that your confidence about your body may take a dive this week. The reason? Plunging estrogen is reducing your brain’s level of mood-regulating serotonin, making you more prone to a negative outlook. Plus, you’re contending with bloat and constipation from progesterone and possibly acne from hormone fluctuations, which can make any gal feel less than perfect. My advice? Do something that boosts your body confidence, for instance, exercise, get a mani/pedi or simply wear your favorite outfit. And, steer clear of department store dressing room mirrors at all costs, which can make even a supermodel look like the Hamburglar!
