My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: If you’re in the first half of Week 1, you may notice that your energy is on the low side. Even though estrogen and testosterone are on the rise, which are hormones that normally give you pep, menstruation is making you drag as your body loses energizing iron. If you’re in the second half of Week 1, it’s a totally different story. By now, waning menstruation and rising hormones should be combining to give you the kind of zip that would make a speed skater jealous.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You may feel the urge to high-five yourself for a job well done, a bill paid off, a successful day of dieting or another accomplishment. As estrogen and testosterone rise, they amp up your excitement level, which brings out your inner cheerleader!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: The clock may seem like it’s dragging today as rising progesterone pulls down your energy, making you feel uninspired and a little bored. If you need help perking your energy back up, try going for a short brisk walk outdoors, which is proven in study after study to rejuvenate the mind and body by boosting blood circulation and providing a mental break.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may be tempted to buy little items that boost your mood, like a cup of gelato, a new purse or summer sandals. Go ahead and indulge! Small treats help build up feel-good brain chemicals that sag as estrogen plunges this week. Just be careful not to go overboard since the ensuing guilt and stress can put the kibosh on any positive feelings these treats gave you!
