My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may notice you’re doing more in your Week 1 than you did in your premenstrual Week 4, for instance, you may cook a meal from scratch, catch up with all your emails or be the last person in the universe to finally download Instagram to your smartphone. The reason for the bump in activity? Rising estrogen, of course! As this hormone climbs, it makes you more active, curious and easily bored when you’re not doing something interesting.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 (or ovulation)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Friends, family members and co-workers should be forewarned that your silly side is prone to coming out today, for instance, you may play practical jokes or lead an impromptu karaoke party. Credit (blame?) for your silliness goes to high estrogen and testosterone, which make you extroverted, impulsive and fun!

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Try to get your work, to-dos and other tasks done earlier today. Rising progesterone is triggering fatigue and making you likely to poop out far sooner than you did during the first half of your cycle.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Plunging estrogen brings down feel-good brain chemicals, which makes you more prone to being critical of new ideas or plans folks propose to you (for instance, when a co-worker suggests a new way of doing a task or your sweetie suggests planning a camping trip together). So, try to keep an open mind and avoid saying “no” right off the bat. You could be pleasantly surprised by the results!
