Today’s hormonescope: You may be more focused on the here and now than on long-range plans today as rising estrogen and testosterone easily fire up your excitement levels and make you less patient about waiting for rewards. How can this affect you? You may blow off work to go shopping even though you can do the same shopping after you’re done with your tasks, you may opt to schedule an overnight staycation rather than save up for a week-long trip someplace else or you may overindulge in fattening foods, alcohol, cigarettes or other “baddies” instead of turning them down in favor of preserving your health years from now.
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You’re easily bored today as peaking estrogen and testosterone amp up your energy and desire for adventure. This can make it difficult to focus on work or ho-hum tasks on your to-do list. An easy remedy: Promise yourself something fun and different for getting through the dull parts of your day, like planning a late night with gal-pals at a new restaurant or summoning the courage to flirt with a cutie you’ve been eyeing.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Rising progesterone puts you in a cautious mood, so you may find yourself keeping your cash and credit cards in your wallet…that is, unless you find something that would make someone else happy. This same hormone is making you want to nurture others, and you may stop at no expense to do so, especially if you find something you think would really make their day.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Today may feel like just one of those days when nothing goes right. The computer is acting up, the neighbors are being noisy, your boss is being harder on you than usual. While it may be true that your day isn’t going easy, also keep in mind that plunging estrogen is making you prone to focusing on the negative aspects. To pump up your mood, or at least avoid drowning your sorrows in five margaritas, try finding the good aspects of your day, too, like a comforting breeze, a new kind of donut at your favorite bakery or a kind word from a friend.
