My Hormonology

Which week are you on in your cycle?

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: Resist the urge to take on more than you can chew today. Rising estrogen and testosterone are giving you the kind of oomph that makes you feel like you can tackle a million things at once and the optimism that the day is hours longer than it really is.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You have no time for scaredy cats who don’t have the guts to cut work and head to the mall, join your protest march, go rock climbing or do anything else less risk-taking folks might shy away from. That’s because high testosterone is making you feel more independent today so you’re not afraid to go it alone!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You’re beginning to have doubts regarding a project, person or goal you were sure about just last week. This is due to a lower level of estrogen, which takes away the confidence you had during the first two weeks of your cycle, as well as rising progesterone, which urges you to play it safe. Luckily, you can use this “reality check” phase of your cycle to your advantage by making sure you’re headed in the directions you really want to go and aren’t just trying to overlook warning signs that it’s time to make a change.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: As estrogen plunges, so does your confidence about money matters. Luckily, there’s an easy way to save 10% to 25% the next time you shop: simply sign up for free email newsletters and birthday clubs from your favorite stores and restaurants. Most reward you with a coupon for instant savings and then continue showering you with coupons throughout the year!
